CLIMATE CHANGE CONTINUES TO CLAIM LIVES AND MAKE NEWS!

Devastating floods in Asia have now claimed more than 1,000 lives.
More than 1,000 dead and 800 missing in floods in Southeast Asia.
Latest count:
Floods and landslides have killed at least:
· INDONESIA – 604 people
· SRILANKA – 366 people
· Thailand – 176 people
According to authorities, there are inaccessible areas, damaged roads, and interrupted communication lines.
The populations depend on aircraft for the supply of basic necessities.
There are 290,700 displaced people in the provinces of North Sumatra, West Sumatra, and Aceh.
Sri Lankan authorities have rescue teams searching for 367 people.
Approximately 218,000 people are occupying temporary shelters after being hit by torrential rains that triggered landslides.
In Thailand, people are starting to receive compensation.
We continue to see a parade of extreme phenomena due to climate change caused by greenhouse gases.
COP 30 was ineffective in providing the urgent response needed to mitigate this phenomenon. The oil lobby was stronger than the defense of a planet free of fossil fuels.
The recklessness with which governments, economic groups, and institutions responsible for monitoring global warming, along with the systematically ignored warnings of many scientists, are already having devastating consequences for the most vulnerable populations. The increase in temperature of +1.5°C is already fiction…
For all these reasons, it is necessary to inform, denounce, and combat the carelessness with which this problem, central to the preservation of life on the planet, is being handled and could lead us to catastrophe.
