A severe heatwave this weekend created conditions for bushfires in several regions of the state.
Since Saturday, authorities have been battling dozens of fires in locations such as the central coast of New South Wales, which destroyed homes and caused power outages.
Thousands of residents were evacuated with the highest danger classification.
In the Phegans Bay and Woy Woy region, 45 km from Sydney, with a population of 350,000, there were 75 fires on Saturday, 19 of which were out of control.
Dozens of homes were lost.
Authorities warned of temperatures conducive to high-risk bushfires this summer.
